Sella & Mosca was born more than a century ago from a bold and pioneering vision. It was 1899 when two Piedmontese men — engineer Sella and lawyer Mosca — looked at a then wild and untamed land with new eyes, fell in love with it, and decided to give it a new life. Thus began an extraordinary reclamation project: decades of work to free the soils from rock and transform them into one of Europe’s most remarkable wine estates, capable of embracing the beauty of the vines and the colors and aromas of the grapes. We are in Alghero, in the heart of an immense estate, among the largest on the continent, in a land unlike any other. Here, Sardinia expresses itself in all its strength: history and nature meet and blend harmoniously, as if they had always belonged together. From the Gallura area of Berchiddeddu, where Vermentino grows resiliently among granite and Mediterranean scrubland, to the Sulcis area of Giba, homeland of Carignano, whose ancient roots sink into sandy soils caressed by the sea, every place reveals a different and authentic face of the island. At the center of the Sella & Mosca estate, a true agricultural community gradually took shape: grafting and vine nursery facilities, wine cellars, workers’ homes, an elementary school, and a small church.
